On the occasion of Milan Design Week, STORAGEMILANO opens its doors to the public to present Anti Meta: in an era in which what is defined as "meta" is radically changing our life and make us lose touch with reality, "Anti Meta means giving importance to emotional, cognitive and physical experiences related to matter, physicality, and interaction."

The product on display is a preview of a capsule collection that will be presented in the fall in collaboration with Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, a historic company capable of renewing its styles through a constant design research, and Materica, an atelier specialized in high-quality metal painting.

This installation, where in addition to the chair also the walls will be covered with a special metal finish, aims to be a pretext to tell a story and express a statement in which to affirm that dreams are man’s wealth. That dreaming, thinking, inventing are the driving forces behind experience, where physical contact with the materials, as well as between people, are the most rewarding and essential ingredients to progress.

"The choice to tell of a thought applied to a project has always been our way of doing things at any design stage and at any scale. The fascination of handcrafted collective memory and objects, with reference to what is expressed in the "statement," is for us a reason for analytical and design drive."

This product was born under a wider design concept. A restaurant in Milan that will have as its own name “Sogni”. A project created and curated in collaboration with Claudio Antonioli.
It was for this place that the idea of involving Gebrüder Thonet Vienna and Materica came up, to unite them "under our creative guidance" and give birth to a "site specific" product that tells of an approach, a sensibility.
Through the use of existing elements and molds used for wood bending, a craft process that belongs to the history and DNA of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, we created a chair that expresses its subject and function, with particular simplicity and coherence. We believe it finds immediate assonance with the typical Italian chair, although there is not a specific one, but that’s how we like to think and feel about it. Almost exclusively Milanese, it’s not ostentatious, it’s simple, elegant, rooted in its function.
With Materica, whose first words are "by transforming the material we create an emotion," we have experimented with some specific opportunities for the application of metal in physical form.

This short story is precisely a mirror of emotional and choral intersections of thought, stimulus, necessary for the development of a creative and productive process. And what we like to investigate.
